I am new to advanced dvd authoring.
I have a question about how a particular dvd was authored.
The DVD is "Brother" R1 by Sony Picture Classics.
The movie has primarily english dialogue. There is some japanese dialogue and accompanying translation subtitles. The translations are not embedded in the video (I checked). Here is the odd thing. There are three subtitle tracks: english, spanish, and french. Normally I would expect an additional english subtitle track. One for just translations subtitles, and the other with english dialogue and japanese translation. However, that is not the case with this DVD. It would seem the dvd has been authored to turn on the english subtitle track during a scene with japanese dialogue and then back off when the scene finishes. The program must check if any subtitle is enabled, doing nothing if yes. If no, performing the above operations.
I was wondering how I might be able to replicate the same feature using a program like Scenarist or DVDMaestro.
