I've noticed after encoding a divx file in divx-3, my encoded file was in great quality but suffered from audio/video asynch during scenes which involved high-speed scrolling or scenes that were action intensive. Is there a certain setting or a method that can be used to avoid this? Thanks in advance.

Hi and welcome to the forums-
A couple of things come to mind. First, you entered the correct delay, I'm assuming, and you didn't downsample I'm also assuming.
So, I'd guess it's something in your system. If you're playing off the CD, then that can happen. If that's the case, then put it back on the hard drive and see if it still happens. Also, as you know, scrolling and high action scenes are the most CPU intensive. I've had similar things happen even on a 1 GHZ Athlon with 640x480 full screen movies. So, if these are high resolution movies, then you might need an above average CPU to handle the high action scenes well. You might try and play it on a friend's more powerful computer to see if it still happens. Also, some players are more CPU intensive than others, and might cause the problem more readily. The BS Player is said to be among the most CPU friendly, so maybe try that one out to see if it's any better. Also, Post Processing in your decoder could hog resources as well. So, try and turn off all post processing if you are using any. Maybe try the ffdshow decoder (http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Filters/ffdshow-20020923.exe) to see if it works any better for you. And if this is an AC3 track you're using, incorrect interleaving settings can cause the problem. I'm just guessing here as you didn't supply that much information.
And if your computer is already top of the line, then please forgive me-didn't mean to insult you.:)

Hi, and thank you for your quick response.
Sorry for leaving out the vitals...
I am using an Athlon 1.4 ghz cpu, and encoding at 640x480 and
I've already ripped the necessary files to my HDD, so I'm guessing
it the issue with post-processing. The strange thing is, this sync problem only appears in that one scene (there are other action-intensive scenes in the film). The scene itself is more scrolling than anything, the camera follows an animated comic strip as if it were reading it. I'll experiment with it alittle then return here.
Thanks again, manono.
