Well, I haven't heard from the guy who was supposed to run the Linux section on my site so I don't know if that's still an option. In any case I've decided to open the Linux forum now, and maybe we'll find some good people to run a Linux section on my site right here (along with some knowledgeable people who'd be willing to take up a moderator position).
Have fun and keep those posts coming...

No moderator means the super moderators and admins will prevent anarchy here ;)

Dammit

but I'm sure you'll find someone else to do the (moderating) job. It will propably just take some time...

well, without starting another one of them holy distro and os wars, having just a linux forum seems pretty narrow in scope. would it not be better to have a general unix one instead? i know that linux is the more popular of the free unix os's around, but there are substantial solaris (sparc/ix86), netbsd/freebsd and enough irix users around to benifitt from all this new non-windows based stuff.

look at mplayer as a good example, it runs on lunux, *bsd, solaris and it erm compiles on irix ;)

Thanks for the shiny new forum, Doom9.

My participation is going to be somewhat limited for a while, since I'm waiting for Gentoo 1.4 to get here so I can install and use that on the only computer with enough power to rip that I have. Still, it'll be interesting to see what kind of discussion we get going in here.

I second the sugestion to rename the forum into something more general (don't wanna start bitching about naming issues here... GNU). But *nix would probaly fit it...
On the other side Linux has become the symbol for opensource OSes, so most users would probably understand what it is about...

dev0

P.S. @ Admins: Could anyone please change my name into dev0? THX in advance...
