Were you trying to capture using full resolution (720 x 576 PAL or 720 x 480 NTSC)?
Does it work when you capture at half resolution (352 x 288 PAL or 352 x 240 for NTSC)?
If so, this is a problem with the drivers for your capture card.
What card do you have and are you using the original drivers?
This worked for me:
Download the latest patch for VideoStudio:
http://www.ulead.com/tech/vs/vs_ftp.htm
Before you capture - after applying the patch - , make sure "Force to use Preview mode" is set. Options -->Capture Options-->"Force to use Preview mode". Now, full resolution capturing will hopefully work for you too.

Glad it helped you.
can you tell me how to compress a file down to fit on 2 disks
What type of disks? DVD disks or "regular" CD-R?
Are you capturing from the TV via antenna, from a satellite, cable or analog receiver?
Or are you Mpeg-2 encoding your own (DV?) material? Or material from a VHS VCR?
How long is the video you wish to fit on a disk?
What quality do you want?

hi swan
thanks for taking the time to help.
ok here we go,
i`m using regular cdr and i am trying to capture from pal video.
my movies are mostly 90 minute and i would like the best quality possible. i hace been trying to use the mpeg 2 svcd format.
the captured file was 1.5 gb. i split the file but one half was to big to fit to a 80 min disk. any suggestions ?????
thanks
