I just tried to backup
buffy the vampire slayer Season 4 Disk 4
(4 episodes on the dvd) UK PAL release
using dvd decryptor v 3.1.1.4 (and smartripper)
episode 2 failed with CIRC error at cell 12
episode 3 failed with CIRC error at cell 3

these cells appeared to be full of sectors with CIRC errors
yet the underside was pristine and played perfectly in a
standalone player.

Unticking the problem Cells/chapters in dvd decryptor
cured the problems and yet the episode lengths of both
turned out correctly at 42 mins each even though they
were both missing a cell/chapter and ther appears to be
no missing section in each episode. Making me think these
'rubbish' cells had been inserted in the VOBs just to
stop copying.............anyone else find this??

sounds more like a mastering error. i don't see why they would go to all that trouble to prevent copying, when bypassing it is as simple as deselecting those chapters. i'd say it's a stupid error on their part.

PS...DVD Decryptor 3.1.4.0 is out, a few nice new features I like in it).

that prolly isn't a protected DVD, but there are quite a few out there, just in the form of promo DVDs, the only kind i know of being music vid DVDs. i'd love to get my hands on one to tool with it, but alas i'm too far down the food chain. :(
