hi , can anyone help me with transferring vhs pal over to svcd.
virtual dub will only allow a video compression of 352 x 288, i am also getting a hiss on the audio on playback. is there anything i can download to alter these setting and at least record a half decent picture. i am using a pinnacle pctv rave card with a composite connection and my cpu is a 1200. any advice on settings and downloads would be of great help and thanks in advance. as an afterthought i am also using tpmge as well.

Sounds like your drivers won't support hi-rez caps, if you're using the manufactures default drivers, try these: http://btwincap.sourceforge.net/

thanks for the advise, will this driver help take the background noise off the audio ?

nope, video tapes just have a lot of noise. u have to use the "save WAV... " option to make a WAV file from the audio track and use an audio-editing software like CoolEdit to filter noise.

don't forget to mute CD and MIC-line in while recording... they often add a tremendous amount of noise.

u also might try not to use your capture card's audio-tuner and connect the VCR to your sound card instead.
