Hi all,

I'm so close and need just a little bit of help.

What I'm trying to do is rip chapter 13 (Launch) from Apollo 13 (DTS version) and use it as a demo for the home theater.

What I've done so far:
Ripped chapter 13 to HD using Smartripper.
Used Ifoedit (v94) to create IFOs, loaded the first vob file and saved it into the same file.
Now, I can play chapter 13, but it's 2 ch sound, not DTS.

This is where my experiment fell apart:
I then went to the ifoedit guides for createifo and tried to follow along but got lost. Here's the last thing I remember.
Opened VIDEO_01_0.IFO
Followed the directions to VTSTT audio attributes.
When I double-click, a dialog box comes up but not the dialog box in the tutorial.
Then I try to highlight the audio attributes and choose hexedit and the "correct' dialog box comes up but it's filled with lines and lines of data (not the one line shown in the tutorial) and it's not clear what I should change.

I'm sinking - Can someone please throw me a line?

After you chapter ripped ch. 13, you should have gotten files like

VTS_01_1.VOB 0 bytes
.
.
VTS_01_4.VOB (non-zero bytes)

Copy VTS_01_1.VOB to a new directory. Rename it VTS_01_2.VOB. Move VTS_01_2.VOB back to the original directory. Keep doing this until you have all vob files up to the first one that is non-zero bytes in size. The first non-zero sized file may not be the fourth, this is just for illustration purposes. Copy VIDEO_TS.IFO from the original dvd into your target directory.

Use ifoedit to strip away the other audio tracks (open VTS_01_0.IFO, and get vob extras to a new directory). When it is done, move the cursor to VIDEO_TS.IFO in the new directory, and get VTS sectors. This is the only way that works all the time. I have found that createifo is not totally bug free, and causes numerous playback problems with subtitles, dying after so many minutes of play, etc. All instructions in mpucoder's guide were followed.

In fact, if anyone knows of a reliable vob to ifo conversion program that works with multiple audio tracks and subtitles, post this info here. When I refer to vob files, they include vob files that smartripper created as well, as vob files that ifoedit may have created using the vob extras button. Authoringware's dvd jr. LE 1.20 and higher works with vob files less than 2GB in size (total), but the playback dies after that, and the time codes are hosed. You also have to do a vobmerge to get one contiguous input file.

Why don't do it like you were doing a normal movie? Rip the whoile movie to the hard drive with dvd decryptor, than Strip only that chapter/vobid out with ifoedit.

Nope, You KEEP your Chapter 13 VOB-ID and strip the rest. ;)
