View Full Version : ReMepeg2 Configuration?

I just check the Rempeg2 readme file and find this
"if you experience of some frames at a fixed interval
you can try to adjust the "bit allocation adjustment" sliders.
These allow you to raise the amount of bits reserved for every
type of picture (I, P and B). By default the I slider is set to
110% (P and B to 100%), meaning that more space will be reserved
for the I pictures since scaling all picture types down by a
fixed factor will most likely result in jerky I frames.
These settings do NOT affect the resulting average bitrate.
Once these settings are applied, everything is adjusted to meet
the average bitrate again..."
According to this text i need to change vale to the I frames....i think
So what value can I use in I frames to prevent jerkiness ?

If you are experiencing jerky frames under Power DVD 4.0 the problem may be with the IFoEDIT m2v Remux. Try using the REMPEG tool (change the mpeg stream) to m2v remux process. and give the REMPEG adjusts
at the default

in rempeg2, make sure you have the following checked:
720x480
progressive
gradient
maybe limit the max bitrate to 5000.
hope this helps...every disc can be different so you might have to continue to experiment.

how do you know what is the correct max bitrate?

whenever i have problems, i always set the maxbitrate to 5000 or 5500.
don't know why, just read it on one of the posts here.
sorry i can't give you specifics.

@Chumboy
progressive is fine if your only what to watch the movie
on the computer...! or you have digital tv.....!
Match sours, will match the original vob’s which I believe is
interlaced. 95% tv’s
If this is wrong, will someone that knows for sure please post....!

Hello,
The best thing you can do is load the VOB files first in DVD2AVI and hit the F5 key.
DVD2AVI will start playing and look closely to the right screen.
If you see first Pal-Interlaced and then PAL-Progressive you will not be able to re-mpeg this movie with ReMPEG2 1.5.2.
This is because the studio logo is interlaced and the rest of the movie pal progressive.
This messes up the re-mpeg process.
According to Derrow, this won't be a issu any more when the new multi-multiplex option will become available in (i think) the next new Ifoedit.
According to him, it then doesn't matter anymore from with source the m2v file came.
Best regards,
Kenwood

Personally i don’t care for re-mpeg-2, in my case it produces substandard quality for me!
If you would like to see A quality encoding you really should try
Tmpgenc encoder!
Trial HERE (http://www.tmpgenc.net/files/TMPGEnc-2.59.47.155-Free.zip)
Plus HERE (http://210.150.5.219/files/TMPGEnc-2.59.47.155-Plus-EN.exe) $48
or CCE encoder $1950 yea right?
& yes Kenwood is right, IfoEdit .95 will multi-multiplex .m2v & .ac3
& copy the cell times which is actually (End cell at frame number “X”)
I have been successfully creating my own custom cell sizes.
This function comes in very handy when I over shoot 4489MB Max.
I just delete the cell that contains the, “end credits”, which can run
as high as 550MB!
good luck!!!!!!!!

All the things you said are true but in my case I need to include spanish subs in my movies; using the TMPEG and CCE methods are
compicated because I cant remux the M2V file with IFOEDIT
Ifo edit 0.95 has a Authoring function but it not 100% bug-free
The easiest option is ReMpeg for my needs
And remember ReMpeg 2 is free

Then all i can say is DEMUX the first .vob with “VobEdit .6” into “cell id’s” & delete
the first cell... which is probably your logo. Then rejoin the remaining cell’s back together.
But to tell you I don’t think that the Logo is the problem.....!
How to see what is in a cell before you DEMUX it.
Open IfoEdit , open VTS_0X_0.ifo, double click chapter or cell in question A video window
will open, use the scroll slide bar to view contents.

ah that's probably why Titanic is getting messed up after being remuxed. Problem is I'm using 0.95 so unless I'm doing someting wrong this hasn't been fixed.
If you remove the interlaced chapter, can you keep the original structure (I'm mainly intereseted in the menu) all the same?
