Please help me I have tried and tried but seem to be creating coasters all of a sudden!

Here is what I'm doing.

1. I have a DVD9 and use DVD decrypter to extract all files into a directory.
2. Using IFoEdit I open the VOB that contains the movie, then split to two directories (DVD1 and DVD2)
3. I then place all other VOBS etc into both directories (DVD1 & DVD2)
4. Using IfoEdit I remove Macro vision the P-UPs and GET VTS sectors for both DVD1 and DVD2.
5. I then place a VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS into each DVD1 and DVD2 folder. I place all files into the VIDEO_TS from DVD1 and the same for DVD2.
6. I then use ImgTools to create image files of DVD1 and DVD2.

I am a newbie but have managed to do this for around 15 DVD's so far. On a few the ImgTool creates bogus images. All of the files in the DVD1 have a byte size of 4,466,366,464 bytes. This plays perfect in IfoEdit.
But the Image created using ImgTools is only 1,952,636,928 bytes
On all of the other successful discs I have made have a byte for byte comparison.

The DVD1 and DVD2 both contain all of the extras etc from the original rip. Even after using the gizmos in IfoEdit the ImgTool produces incorrect image sizes.

I cannot work out why the file sizes do not add up. Plus I have tried to burn the disc and the result is a coaster.

Have you had this problem? if so do you know how to correct it. Please help me I now have bogging of the eyes and brain.
Many thanks. BSF

Maybe there are wholes in your VTS structure. For exampel you have only vts_02 and vts_04 and vts_03 is missed.

Greets, CouJo!

Thanks CouJo
I have double checked that all of the extras and subtitles etc are present in both of the discs (i.e. DVD1 and DVD2) folders. The discs will play fine in IfoEdit but when the image is created the files is nothing like the size it should be!

Is there a way that I can just rip the movie, split to 2 discs and burn just the movie. I suppose rip the vobs then write my own _TS files? Then create the image and burn. This would remove all messages and extras etc. (Going straight into the movie).

Cheers all / Thanks Coujo

Hi Coujo,
On checking further I found that I was actually missing VOB's. I did not think that this would create a problem as the missing VOBS were only extras. These made the disc to large to fit DVD5 so I did not include them.

When I put in the missing VOBs into the folder the image generated fine. So I left the included the BUP and IFO for the missing VOB but did not include the VOB. This appears to work fine (But clearly it will not play the missing data from the missing VOB). This is only a interview with a man, and not part of the main movie so it is not important.

You was right, I was wrong thanks for the help.

Regards BSF:)
