I am a newbie to most of this ( DVD to DVD ) but have done a tone of DVD2SVCD. I need help with ifoEdit/tmpgenc. I have searched the past posts and found nothing on this subject which I could cheat off of.
after stripping out the unwanted audio and other things using IfoEdit, I still have a 5.5 gig file so I need to bring it down in size. Not having CCE I use TMPGenc. I get my .d2v file using DVD2AVI. I open TMPG and fill in all the settings based on the Doom9 DVD-9 guide. I generate the TMGP template using IfoEdit and get the "I"'s. The guide says it will take a long time to load the template into TMPG. But when I load it in, as a text file, I get "invalid data stream".
I know I must be doing something wrong or missing a step. But I have search near and far and can't find anything that tells me what I am missing or doing wrong. Help would be great.
Thanks!!

Hi, You're not doing anything wrong (according to the guides), TMPGEnc does not read d2v projects. I've asked the same question in a previous post:
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=38147
but did not get very far.
From what I can tell, this is the way TMPGEnc works.
There is another thread that discusses a possible work around by loading a single VOB here:

NOTE, the DVD-9 to DVD-5 guide has been updated, you no longer need to generate the TmpgTemplate.txt file and can skip that step.

If your using IfoEdit and are keeping the same chapters then you do need to do the TmpgTemplate.txt.
TMPGEnc can read .d2v projects if you have the correct VFAPI Plugin that now comes with TMPGEnc, which you can download again and just grab the TMPGEnc.vfp file. Also make sure you have the DVD2AVI.vfp file as well which comes with DVD2AVI

I'm using TMPGEnc for the first time and am trying to load a .d2v file which was prepared with DVD2AVI v1.76. The TMPGEnc.vfp file (which roach76 mentions in his 11/22/02 posting) was downloaded with the TMPGEnc v.2.510.49.157 program and the DVD2AVI.vfp file was similarly downloaded with the DVD2AVI program. Unfortunately, TMPGEnc won't let me load the d2v file. All I get is the message:"File ... .D2V can not open, or unsupported."
Obviously I'm doing something wrong. Can anyone help me?

Go into the 'Option' drop down menu in TMPGEnc, then 'Environmental Setting'. Then click the 'VFAPI Plug-in' tab and see if the 'DVD2AVI Project File Reader' is there and is ticked, maybe try increasing the priority. If it's not there than TMPGEnc doesn't know about DVD2AVI. I had only a small problem with VFAPI Plug-ins when I first started with all this before so I've never really had to fiddle with this problem, all I can suggest is make sure you have both files DVD2AVI.vfp and TMPGENC.vfp in each of the programs directories.
Seeing as though the latest TMPGEnc installs TMPGENC.vfp for you I think the problem will have to be on DVD2AVI side of things. If you still have problems tell me where your up to and I'll try to answer your questions or you can do a search for this problem throughout the forum, you have not been the only one.
