Has anybody here ever tried to do Traffic with Michael Douglas. It has a running timr of 2:21 and very noisy parts. my last try was a full rip at resolution on two XCDs and 2 b-frames at 200%. but still ...

What's the matter with Steven Soderbergh and Traffic ? Mind-numbing ?
It may not be his best movie (I like Sex, Lies and Video much better) but... OK, nothing to do with XviD :)

Have you tried to use pre-proc AVS filters such as Denoise or Convolution3D ? Maybe this could make your source more compressible ?

I did it in 2 cds, 640*336, with tempsmoothing as well as smart smoother. Just select "medium noise" in GK and you should be fine. It's not that bad, basically only the scenes in Mexico are noisy. It did, however, need IVTC.
