ok, what is the best solution for encoding video for the web? (meaning, lower bitrate video where DivX or XviD is not suitable). Streamability is also important (or atleast download as you play). So what is the best solution? Quicktime 6? Real Video 9? I don't know much about encoding for the web, so all suggestions are appreciated! I hear quicktime 6 is generally the best for web video. also, please give details about encoding methods (programs, settings, etc.) for whatever solution you guys say is best. thanks! oh, and when I say low bitrate, I don't mean ridiculously low. I mean in the 350 to 600 kbps range basically.

The only codecs I've seen that perform better at low bitrates are WMV9, Real 8/9 and perhaps VP3.

I think XviD will perform better than you may expect. You can always stream XviD/DivX/whatever inside the .asf container if you'd like.
