I have tried this three times and everytime it fails. I am trying to strip the Widescreen from Legally Blone, leaving the Fullscreen version for my burning project. I rip with DVD Decrypter IFO mode. Then I delete the VOB's only that have the widescreen on it. I then load IFO edit and Get VTS. After every update or change I quit IFO edit and restart and Get VTS, quit and pick up where I left off. I also load every IFO and region free and save. Then I run image tools just like the guide says using ImgTool_089. I create a *.img file and go into DVD Decrypter and write in ISO mode. I also have done a cold boot in between everystep to try to keep a clean plate. Here comes the PROBLEM.

I load the disc in my Computer to try and play, and PowerDVD gives me a Undesired format error, I try to load it in IFO edit and play and it shuts right down. My set top DVD player says the DVD is not the right region. So i retrace my steps and try to reload the files I ripped in IFO edit and play them again, they all played right while I was stripping VOB's and VOB ID's and just before I burned it. I am now getting several errors from my ripped files that played before:
2 out of 3 DVD-Video streams faile to render properly
- video stream
- subpicture stream
No combination of intermediate filters could be found to make the connection
No valid DVD-Video volume could be located
Decoded closed caption data not rendered properly

I have used this method for Top Gun and Backdraft without any trouble. I have tried to use Nero to burn the files directly and it moves them to the disc, but I cannot play them on anything either. I have as of yet to burn anything with Nero sucessufully so I am staying away from it.

Any ideas as to what I have missed or should try. I have searched for an answer I cannot find. Right now I am banging my head on the keyboard. Thanks.

Heres' a method to try.

When ripping the movie in IFO mode under DVD Decrypter, enable stream processing and demux the required video and audio stream.

Fire up the latest version of infoedit and use it's built DVD authoring functions to create a new .vob set from your demuxed streams.

Once finished region free each .ifo file.

The proceede to run get_vts sectors on each .ifo file.

Create an image file and burn.

I'll give it a try over the next couple of days. A couple of questions, I am still quite new to this, but am picking up pretty well. Where do I find enable stream processing and demux the required video and audio stream in DVD Decrypter. I took a look through the tools and cannot find it, or do I need to look elsewhere? I am working with Version 3.1.3.0 which I believe is the current release. Then as for IFO Edit I am working with V.95, are you talking about "Create disk image?" Thanks for your reply, I apprecite the help.

Try IFO mode, not file or ISO.

And, by the way, just check guides section.. you have a perect guide with everything : explanation step to step for 45 IQ, screen cap and everything...

Please, everybody who read this post, remember Doom9 is not only a forum but a full site will the more impressive guide collection on DVD, and Audio/video encoding and more guides.

Read first, ask second.

Or, fear mods power :-)

I actually followed the layer stripping guide to the letter. You are correct I used file mode, which is what the guide recommends, my mistake in my original post. I'll try IFO mode tomorrow and see what happens. Thanks for the reply.

Update here, I think I have this problem solved. Played DVD+RW fine in my standalone and everything. I finally used NERO in DVD-ROM UDF and it burned fine. I had trouble with NERO before, but a little time playing around is all it took. Thanks anyway for the help!
