Hi there!!

I am using MS media player version 9.0 Beta.
It seems to be very cool media palyer so that I decided to remove all music players, winamp etc on my PC. There must be, however, some solution to play OGG, AC3, APE type music file on MS Media Player 9.0 as I have many music files in these format. ANyone know what to do, please help me.

1. The first step would be for Microsoft to aquire exclusive rights to those formats.

2. Implement a restrictive DRM scheme.

3. Screw something up so they can have a selling point for upgrades.

4. And if the rest did not make the files unplayable on other OS/machines then do so.

Sarcasm aside you are gonna have major problems. The biggest being that there is no such thing as a Directshow Monkies audio decoder IIRC. So your APE files are totally useless. Second being the betas only seem to work with MS directshow codecs. Intentional/unintentional you be the judge. So even though there is a directshow decoder for Vorbis it will not work in WMP9 current. As I understand it, it is because Microsoft has switched over to strictly using Directx Media Objects. It was of course an unintentional side benefit that it broke almost all of their competitors codecs compatability. Microsoft has a habbit of doing that.
