View Full Version : IFOEdit remux problems (I suck)

OK, this is my first time doing a DVD9->DVD5 conversion, and I followed the guides as best I could. Doing the movie A Simple Plan; main movie files being VTS_02_x.
Ran thru the IfoEdit 'Create Template' for TMpeg, selected only I-frames, chose a 'typical' GOP from the list, and let ifoedit do its thing, and then loaded that file into TMPEG; seemed to go ok to this point.

I wasn't sure whether to include the VTS_02_0.VOB file in the .d2v, as it only contained the menu graphics, so I tried it both ways - without the _0 file, the TMPeg procedure seemed to go much faster.

After I had got my .mpv files from TMPeg, i tied the remux option in ifoedit, opening the VTS_02_0.ifo file. When trying to mux the first m2v file, ifedit b!tches about not finding chapter points, or somesuch. No problem, I figure, I'll just try the other m2v file, the one without the _0.VOB. This time IFOEdit simply hangs, eating 100% CPU on one of my processors, and doesn;t appear to do much else.

After searching thru the forums, I haven't found much, other than the fact that ifoedit acts strangely when the ipb... sequence doesn't match, however, I can't think of a reason why it wouldn't match.

Any ideas? (be kind...)

EDIT: using .95;

I don't know if anyone has had a truly successful experience remuxing Tmpgenc .m2v files.

I finally gave it up and now use only Rempeg2 for transcoding. The image quality may not be quite as good as Tmpgenc, but the results are certainly much smoother in the finished product.

When I process a DVD, I get rid of all menus and the streams I don't need. Then I transcode using Rempeg2. Then I demux the audio I want to keep with DVD2AVI and then use IFOEDIT to author a new DVD using the m2v file and the demuxed audio stream with chapter points from the original DVD.

This gives what I feel are superior and faster results than the remuxing process.

Good Luck!

OK, after reading the CCE muxing thread, what I did is this:

went to Author DVD, and selected the new m2v file, and the orig. ac3 files, and used the same cahpter points as the original DVD, and muxed.
Then I torched the new ifo's generated, and copied all the other vobs, etc over unmodified. Ran a Get VTS, and it looks like its working. Chapters I haven't tested yet, but they should work, because the TMPeg GOP structure should be the same (at least with respect to I-frames), will keep you posted...

OK, finished, burned to RW - and chapters work... but only the first 7 (of 15).
Can't be bothered to play around more tonight.

For those who care... I think I found the problem.
