I'm so close...! Using IFOedit .94 I split a DVD9 into 2 folders. Using ImgTool I create image file from folder1 and burn and play just fine. Upon trying to create a image file from folder2 ImgTool converts only 1 small file and not the contents of the whole folder. I swear the VIDEO_TS BUP IFO VOB and VTS_01_0 BUP IFO VOB files are copied to the folder. Can anynone help?

Thanks in advance,
Manazoid

I fixed the problem with a little experimentation and some help.

how'd you fix the problem? i realize that imgtool needs to have the vob's in sequence but that's not possible when the movies/menu's when their located in VTS_07. so what's the solution?

The fix is easy, and to make a long story short I'm not going to name all the files lets just say we all know that any file I mention has all associated BUP, IFO, and VOB's and all folders should have VIDEO_TS.* and VTS_01_0*. OK lets say our main movie is located in file7. You split file 7 with IFOedit. Copy all files preceeding file 7 to the first folder, done. You can now use ImgTools to create an image file and burn. Now for folder2. Copy all files preceeding file7 to folder2 except any large VOB's that are allready in folder1. This way your files will be numerically correct and the image file you will create will fit on a DVD5. Now copy all files after file7 to folder2 and you will have the whole movie, special features and all. Again using ImgTools create an image file and burn baby burn.

yah, that makes sense when you split (since you have room to put all the missing sequence files in each disc) but what to do when you want to strip out the extras and just keep the movie and the menu, in order that it may fit on one disc?

one more question (as to your split disc method): you said that on the second disc you can simply leave out the large VOBs - do you mean to say that Imgtool only requires IFO files to be in sequences?

ah right den...(and thanks)

There is a Guide explaining how to strip a DVD9 down to a 5. Good Luck.

I copied all BUP, IFO, and small VOB's preceeding file7.

yah, but that guide does not keep the files intact.
that is, once you've stripped out unwanted material, so that you have a dvd-5, you are still left with an out-of-sequence structure. that's what i'm trying to figure out - how to re-sequence without adding the extras back in.
thanks for the replies.
