View Full Version : Removing a Title, Keep rest intact

I have attempted to remove an entire title of the Movie "Enough" while keeping the rest of the DVD intact. Enough has the fullscreen and widescreen versions on one disc, and if you remove the fullscreen title, it fits on a DVD-5.

Here's what I did:

Tried simply removing the VTS_02_n.VOB files (the fullscreen title), and changing all the "JumpTT" commands in the IFO's to jump to the widescreen version instead of the fullscreen. Did a "Get VTS sectors" and tried it. WinDVD no like, so I made dummy files (0 bytes) for the VTS_02_n files, did another Get VTS sectors, and voila, it works in WinDVD!

Wrote that to a disc, popped it in my Sony settop, and it would not work. The disc works fine in 3 different PC dvd players, with different software, but not on the standalone.

When removing an entire title, is there a smarter way? Is the fact that I am creating dummy files messing with my settop? Do I need to leave the IFO files from the removed titles in, so the settop doesn't get confused?

Any help would be appreciated....

Follow on note:

I wrote another disc, leaving the original VTS_02.ifo file (from the removed title) and all the VTS_02.n dummy files, except for VTS_02.0, which I left the original (I guessed that there might be some checking for that, and it was only 30KB). This time it worked, but I am only guessing at my solution.

Still hoping someone can tell me why this worked, and the other way (just removing the title, or creating dummy files for all the VOB's, including VTS_0x.0).

Wish I knew more.... Maybe some day my brain will be as big as Twilight's and Derrow's.....

Thanks!

What I've tried, and it's been a bit trial and error, is to find a very small title-set on the same DVD, (e.g. a TS that has just the FBI or ratings, or some trailer or something)... something thats only about 10-50 megs or so. Then, the version of the movie that I want to remove (FS) will be, for example, VTS_04. So I move all of the VTS_04 files (all VOBs and IFO and BUP), and copy the small TS that I found, and rename it VTS_04.

Do a get VTS sectors in IFOedit, and it seems to run, no problem. Of course, it gets sticky if you click FS when it's not there (sometimes crashes the player -- STOP command -- sometimes hangs PowerDVD). However, as long as you always select WS, then it works fine. I did this with Dude Where's My Car and with Legally Blonde.

Give it a try Scooby.
