The Authoring function in IfoEdit has been out for a while now and I have yet to try it out. I assume that the code which is actually doing the remuxing of the video and audio streams is the same as that used when doing the more established "remux .m2v" feature? Is there any real difference between these two approaches in terms of quality / reduced video jitter problems that anyone has come across?

Perhaps someone can also clarify whether the authoring function allows you to retain the original menus? I am not worried too much by this if the end quality is better than the old remux approach, but if not I might as well stick with the old way and keep the option to retain the original menus.

How about a poll on this - what's better?

1. Remux .m2v (old way)
2. Author (new way)

Hello,

Well according to a e-mail I got from Derrow, it doesn't matter from what kind of source the .m2v file comes from when the new multi multipex function will become available.
Then it will go by chapter and all those re-mpeg problems we have at this moment won't be a issu any more.
So, at this point I am testing the KDCV template on Star Wars 2 on TMPGEnc.
If this also give problems, well, I stop with re-mpeg and wait until Derrow comes with a solution.
In the mean time, I just spit then.
I can buy Princo 2x DVD-R (10 on a spintle) for Euro: 16,-
So, my costs are going down and it's always cheaper then to buy a expensive DVD for 20-30 Euro !
Best regards,

Kenwood

When you say that IfoEdit will have a new remux process is this in v0.95 or the 0.96 beta? If its not in these we might have a wait on our hands given the news about Derrow's new job.

For the sake of my own sanity I am installing DVD Split and sticking to it until someone comes up wuth a reliable tmpg/rempeg/remux method.
