Sorry Dg - but I really do not like Mr. Gibson. He preys on newbies with huge FUD campaigns about stuff which usually is laughable. Many times it would seem he is doing it to increase popularity of his own rather non-special apps, which sometimes use common ideas that about half the world knows about . His website quite frankly reads like a marketing brochure for some third-rate company - lots of Capitalized Letters and different colors and sizes of text to make veiled assertions.

Reading the GRC forums is hilarious, I'm sorry. I've probably read "the Whole Internet will be SHUTDOWN because no ones using MY SPECIAL Program That Does Jack" about 20 times in two years. As for "SHIELDS UP!" - please don't get me started what is wrong with that, lol !

Thank goodness others agree with me (http://www.grcsucks.com/).

Hi - hell, I admire anyone that codes in assembly, even Stevie. I do sometimes ask myself "what is the point" these days, but i guess it has it's uses. I just get really sick of seeing that guy in mainstream outlets as a ( self-professed ) "security expert" because he really doesn't seem to have a clue whilst shamelessly leading people up the garden path.

The last app I used from SG was this thing called "wizmo". Perhaps it was just me and my machine but that app took sometimes 30 seconds to achieve the huge task of powering down my monitor under any kind of load and about 5 seconds otherwise. Marvellously efficient assembly code that.

Not saying what you posted isn't a valuable fix by SG - I just wanted people to have a different opinion of the man and his site than what he promotes on the said site.

I dont like him either.. he is an atention whore imo. Its much easier to just rename or even delete the helpfile (no one is ever gonna use this file anyway) in question, than use his 1337 program that changes a few bytes. he makes hard soulutions to easy problems.
