Question about converting Quick time files

First of all I didnt know where to post this question
or how to ask it. SO here I go, I got a Quick time
file (really short)from a BMW film and I wanted to know if is it posible to cahnge this file to
Mpeg-2 and then to SVCD.
I realize that the quality may not be that good; but Im whilling
to give it a try as a pet project.

So any help or comments are welcome..... Thanks to all the people
that colaborates whit the forum.

this should be possible. Of course it'd be easier with Quicktime PRO, but i think you can do it with freeware programs. Take a program from doom9's downloads that does quicktime to AVI(i think it's a command-line program) then from AVI/wave, you know where to go from there, right?
