works with DVD+RW but not with DVD+R

I'm not new at this stuff but can't seem to understand why I've got this problem:
After burning a tester DVD+RW in NERO - it worked fine on my settop player.
Subsequently, I burned a DVD+R but my settop won't recognize it.

Yes, I've used this dvd+r media in my player before (from rima). Yes, I've done all the proper region checking and VTS sector stuff.

So - what gives? My guess is that the media is probably to blame. Although, as mentioned it has worked in the past. Can somebody offer their opinion?

I don't know if you had this item checked, I had a similar problem. When I checked the box in nero that says finalize, no further writing possible, the DVD+R media I was using worked fine in my set top player. At least that was my problem under the same circumstances.

yah - i figure that it's an issue with the disc being finalized (since DVD+RW discs don't require finalization) but the finalize option is greyed out (but checked).

so, i'm back to not knowing what the issue is (but thanks for the reply)

It is greyed out and checked in mine as well, but, it seems to still finalize. It was worth a shot, good luck to you.
