Once you have authored your video in SpruceUp, you will need to use IFOedit to modify the IFO file for that titleset to tell the DVD player that you would like it to play this movie in widescreen, and so you dont end up with tall thin faces.
Open up the IFO file for the titleset in question, and in the top portion, click on the phrase "VTSI_MAT". The bottom pane will show a lot of info. You want to scroll down to the line that begins with "00000200". Double-click on it, and a window will pop up giving you various options pertaining to that titleset. You will see it will be set to "4:3", so all you do is change that to "16:9" and also check the "Automatic Letterbox" option.
Now save you IFO (and the BUP automatically) over itself, and you are done! If you test it using a software player, the window will resize when the movie starts, just like an original, and your set-top will create black bars (unless you have a 16:9 TV in which case you will use your whole screen)
Hope this long-winded explanation makes sense. As you can see, it really has nothing to do with SpruceUp, which has no idea what you are going to do with it's IFO afterwards.
