I want to author a DVD or CD with compressed audio files for the PS2, the PS2 can't decode MP3 so I thought of stereo Dolby Digital streams since Dolby Digital is a compressed audio format. Here come my first question what bitrate to use for Dolby Digital to get the same quality as a 128 kbps MP3?

Then I used AC3Machine with BeSweet to convert my MP3 to Dolby Digital but it is very complicated since the program assumes your source file has a sampling rate of 48000, so when you convert it, it is accelerated since you need to make it 44100. So I converted the MP3 to WAV in order to make its smapling rate of 48000, so does anybody has a suggestion for this.

The last point is to mux the ac3 file into a vob file. here I have several questions. Can a vob file have only audio and how do I make that vob file? If not I'm thinking of a low bitrate clear movie, how do I make that movie and mux it, waht would be its minimum bitrate? My third option is to make a Menu, with sound. Can this be done and how?

Please help me.

a much better thing for you to do is create a Dolby Digital CD.

when you've got besweet to create a dolby file properly, get it to create a Dolby Digital Wav, which is basically a .ac3 file with a redbook PCM header on it, and burn it like a normal audio cd.

now you'll have to hook up the digital out of the player (not sure if the PS2 has this) to a dolby digital decoder/amp, and you should get sound.

you can do a similar thing with DTS, but of course you need a DTS decoder/amp :)

Are the files with the pcm header almost the same size? because I tried and I got a very big file, my purpose is not to get 5.1 channels it is to get the most songs in a cd.

dolby digital waves are much biggers than original ac3, dts-waves are also bigger than original dts.
