Volume level in output file very low?

I've used MPegFlask to convert a number of dvd's divx avi files. I have read somewhere that because of the ac3 to mp3 sound track conversion the sound level does come out lower than the original dvd. Is there anyway to overcome this as some of the discs i have converted have come out with shocking low level audio tracks?

Try to use BeSweet with auto gain and DRC of light or normal.
