2x media, dvr-104 and ps2?

Can somebody help me to pick media that will burn at 2x in my 104 using record now max, that will play in a PS2? I have not upgraded firmware from 1.30 and quite frankly, I am afraid to.

I have an A04 (same thing as 104 from my understanding) and burn Primedisc (Ritek) media @2X with Nero and they all have played fine on a friend's PS2. Hope this helps
