I've been thinking about getting a PDA for awhile not only because they're cool but also for use as a portable media player. Since memory sticks, smartcards and other small memory storage devices are already going to 512mb and over it'd be easy to back up movies and video clips to them. You may wonder what the benefit of watching videos on a 5 inch screen is, well, for me it would mean being able to watch amvs at school and taking episodes along to boring places like, say, outside. I think it would be pretty sweet.
But OH no! Theres a dilemma. There are apps for PocketPC that can play wmv, mpeg1, mpeg4, and RealMedia. This sort of functionality is exactly what I was looking for. However, the sony clie series which runs on PalmOS are advertised as personal entertainment devices. But Mobile RealOne isn't available for Palm nor are most cool PDA apps, its support is pretty limited to mpeg 1 and 4.
So the facts presented, I ask, which do you think would be a better choice for a portable video player?
