Is there currently any burner on the market that Support burning Single Side Double Layer??
And are there any media for that??
( I don't seems to find any of the above on the net.... )
And if they are not avalible, why??

I did a quick search on "dual layer burner" and look what I found:

There's a lot of interesting info in that thread so if you have time make sure to read it. Here's the quick blurb: There's no dual layer burner and chances of such a device ever coming to the market are slim.

I don't exactly know what "-I" is speaking about.
"-I-" is too focused on currently widely available technology, based on a laser which changes reflectivity on a dye.
He says that dual burning is not possible because the laser had to refocus all the time. So he just says that you can't toggle between the layers all the time, which is true.
He does not say in one single word that burning one complete layer after the other is impossible, and it certainly isn't impossible. It's not simple, but it certainly is not impossible.
The upper layer needs to be transparent to a frequency very close to it's burning frequency (this difference (measured as a factur, not a sum!) of course has a certain minimum, and would increase proportionally to the speed you want to write at. This follows directly from Heissenbergs Theory of Uncertainty).
This frequency could then be the burning frequency of the lower layer.
The most difficult thing would be to find appropriate material, but saying it is impossible is IMHO too pessimistic.

Well, i agree on the technical analysis.
But, never forget the sales point of view...
At present, burners are sold at around 450 USD (I know you can find cheaper easily on the web, but it's drugstore price, say 400 if you prefer)
That's means, that pioneer sold it to mass distributer @150 which sold it @225 to big distributors which sold it @350 to drugstore which sold it @450 to... You !
So, Pioneer did produced for 90-100 USd the burner.
Figures can seems bigs, but that the way it happens in this sort of electronic business.
So the real question is :
How much can spend more someone to have a dual layer compare to a single layer ?
let's go on another 450USD !
So, I need to produce it for 200 USD, retail price @900USD...
And, that, I do not believe it's possible yet.

The Pioneer DVR-A03 was intruduced 1 1/2 year ago for 1.800 DM (about 900 Euro), DVD-R media was something like 40 DM each...but people bought it.
And I'm sure some people would buy dual layer devices "just for fun" for such prices as well...you can make people buy virtually everything (even DVD+) :sly:

So it is currently technically impossible to burn it.
I know there is double side DVD R but i think they are quite easy to scratch... ( since every side has data on it ) and data may get damage......oh well... The world is not perfect..... :)

is it that it's too difficult to produce commercially? or is it that the blu-ray technology is going to be about 5 times the capacity as dvd-9 and that technology is alot closer to a consumer reality and spending the money to produce consumer level dvd-9 burners is like paying someone to make 10mb floppies?

From what i heard blue ray technology will only be avalible through consumer applicance as video recoder. I am not sure if it will come out as PC recoding facility.... i hope it does, as this will make storing files ten times easier...
