I don't know if it's appropriate here, but I don't know where else i should post this, so I'm asking here. If it belongs elsewhere, please accept my apologies and move the thread there.

Since I migrated to Windows XP a few months ago bbMPEG isn't working anymore. Whenever I click on a button that would open a file dialog the program crashes.

Has anyone else ever encountered a problem like this?

Have you even bothered to do a search?

How you tried to look at the guides on Doom9?

What's your point? Instead of pointing me to the information I'm looking for you ask me if I tried to find it in the first place? What do you think I did prior to posting?

That's not quite like adults behave, is it?

Maybe because this question was asked and answered just yesterday in the VCD/SVCD Encoding and Authoring forum, asked and answered in the DVD2SVCD Basic forum 5 days ago, is mentioned in the Doom9's bbmpeg muxing guide (with a workaround) and has been a known issue since XP was released over a year ago.

We realize you are just looking for help, and we do want to help you, but when the exact same question is asked over and over, well that's why the guides were written.

It's also why the #1 rule of this forum is:

1) Read up before asking! There are tons of guides, FAQs and each forum has a dedicated Q&A thread with additional info.

1a) Use the search function before posting. Chances are your question has already been answered.

Please excuse my apparently annoying behaviour. I won't bother to ask again.

I'm deeply sorry about wasting your precious time.

and now for the direct link:
http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/mpg/bbmpeg.htm

For future reference: http://www.doom9.org has a lot of info on a lot of ripping related subjects. Whatever you want to do (I suppose you wanted to split an SVCD here) you'll find an appropriate guide (in this case every SVCD guide uses bbmpeg) which you can follow. There's also a direct link to the FAQs: http://faq.doom9.net

Then there's the search function on this forum:http://forum.doom9.org/search.php?s= and if you enter "bbmpeg AND crash" and press the search button you'll get this: http://forum.doom9.org/search.php?s=&action=showresults&searchid=424547&sortby=lastpost&sortorder=descending
Now you can see how many times the question has been asked and answered.

Last but not least, even the moderators, and even myself use the search engine quite extensively. Usually the easiest way to look up information on a given subject is to do a search and more often than not we can just reference to another thread which saves us quite a bit of time. Trust me, a lot of your problems can be solved a lot quicker if you do a search, you'll have the answer instantly instead of having to wait.
