Hi Freaks,

I read the fine post some threads ago about ripping the Star Trek Next Generation NTSC version, and it seems to be inits strructure quite different. My original DVD contains of 4 titels in different files (VTS_01_x,VTS_02_x,VTS_03_x,VTS_04_x) and the main menu which i want to keep is located in the VTS_01_0.VOB file (about 260MB)

I extracted all m2v, ac3 and substreams files with vobedit 0.6 and put them in DVD2AVI to get a d2v file. This one i used with tmpgenc to reencode the video only (2pass vbr, 2600 main bitrate, cause I keep 2 ac3)

I can reauthor my DVD very well with derrows ifoedit and put in the reencoded m2v and 2 ac3 files with 2 substream files. As result, i get a new set of vob+ifo files.

if I replace the original vob files only the result is a dvd with broken movies but correct menu and if I also replace the vts_01_0.ifo with the new one, the result is a correct movie but a broken menu.

can anybode give me hints what I need to do to keep the menu with the new vobs ?

Thanks in advance

You are on the right track.

You DO need to replace the VOB files (not the 0, which are the menu files, but the 1,2,3 etc)
You do NOT want to replace the ORIGINAL IFO files that correspond to the VOBs, but you DO want to transpose the chapter points form the IFOs that YOU authored into the originals so that they point to the correct places in your new VOBs.

So once, you have replaced the VOBs, use IFOupdate to point to the ORIGINAL IFO file, as well as your AUTHORED IFO file and get it to copy the chapter points across. Due to the structure of your disc (different from the R1), you will need to do this for EACH titleset (make sure you keep careful track of which IFO files you are working on!).

Once you have done that (4 times presumebaly), then you can GetVTSSectors and you should be all done.

Hope this helps (and I hope I understood your problem correctly!)
