I am interested in series 2 of the 24 show. It is being posted in the a.b.m ngs. After demuxing into mpv and mpa I imported the mpv stream into Maestro using the DVD patcher. When playing it through my player I noticed that the FOX logo cuts out about 2/3rd in the X. Using Power DVD it shows the full width FOX logo and than some space.

I am aware of TV oversan but never noticed it on the dozen of other DVDs that I have done, until the FOX logo in the bottom right corner.

Why is this and is there any thing that can be done to get the full width the way it appears on the computer screen.

Thanks for any help.

that sounds like its something to do with VCD scaling, of which i havent tried, but i think its been mentioned previously a couple of times.

Thanks auenf for the quick reply. I searched doom9 for scaling, for oversacn and try to piece things together. Please stay with me for a couple of questions.

Could it be that the incorrect width is due to the encoding pixel ratio and will display correctly on the computer but not on the standalone player? What would adding Pan & scan information do will it help? I am really frustrated on this. There are a few shows that I really love and being in London we get this up to 6 months after the US. 24, Enterprise, Fire Fly and Boomtown to name just a few. I can tell from the repeating opening credits that the width is about 10% less than when played back on the computer.

ANy help please advise.

not sure, but in one of the previous threads is a mention to using ifoedit (might be ifoupdate, not sure) to change the VTS flag so its recognised as a mpeg-1.
