I'm using the following guide: DVD-9 to DVD-5 "Full Copy" Instructions

I'm trying to copy swordfish everything works fine but after I author it with maestro the audio doesnt sync up with the video? I decided to press on and continue with the guide thinking the updateifo would fix that... But it didnt. What am I doing wrong here? do i Need to do something with the av3 file?

Thanks

are you dropping the ac3 into the timeline, or creating a sync audio track?

I'm using dvd2avi to create the ac3 file and then just dropping it on the timeline. Someone told me to use ac3delay to fix it? Will that do it?

Ive tried... that man this sux looks like im going to have to go back and use the dreaded rempeg2.

My audio file is about 3 min shorter than the video. I'm using the doom guide: DVD-9 to DVD-5 "Full Copy" Instructions

I'm following the guide to a tee and I dont think the guide is right or something is screwy? I cant understand whats happening to my audio file is there a setting in dvd2avi that needs to be set thats not listed in the guide?

This is so frustrating. Im trying to rip swordfish so if anyone is trying to do this please walk me through it.

Thanks

ok i think iv located the problem... I used dvd2avi to get the ac3 file which is 1:39:39 and the video file is 1:42:22 the movie is really 1:39:33 but dvd2avi picks up the movie trailer which is 2 min and adds that to the d2v file!! How do i get rid of this trailer and just leave the movie? There is also a 30 sec fbi thing at the end of the movie also taking more time... Ugh this movie is difficult to rip. Any suggestions to that?

I've noticed you have mentioned this a couple of times, both when the person having problems was using Scenarist and here using Maestro. Do they both have that option? And, if so, how would I "sync audio track" in Scenarist?

I am encoding Sopranos DVD, it all works with 4 PGCs in first titleset, audio and video are exactly the same length in Scenarist, drop frame on both (of course) and pulldown was run on the video after using FORCE FILM in DVD2AVI. All should be good, but the audio (AC3 which has a -66ms delay) is late by about a seconf when previewing the mastered DVD on hard drive. I'd like to try this "synch audio track" but it's nowhere in the help file.

I ripped this movie without any problems - use IFOEdit to strip out the trailors, menus, etc. keep just the main movie.
- then use dvd2avi to create your .d2v file and .ac3 file
- use ac3delay fix for your .ac3 file
- use a transcoder of choice to make your .m2v file (CCE, TMPG, etc.)
- re-author and burn

hope this helps

No offense, but you couldn't possibly be following it that closely because you would have read the note at the top that says "this guide only works for single PGC titles". All Warner Bros. videos are multi-PGC. Therefore, you have to take the more complex structure into account. Most people wimp out and just do the main movie on WB titles. hehe ;) It's not that hard, really, it just takes more learning, more work, and a bit more patience. I suggest you read about Warner Bros. titles and multi-PGC titles in general to get a better understanding of the layout.
