Hi!

I have a Hauppauge WinTV Go PCI with BT8x8 and capture in VDub from my Analog Sat-Receiver per Composite-In.
Now, I always have some ugly running color-bars in the Display and the Captures (see attached Picture). This is very annoying since it degrades Picture Quality quite much.
I already tried a short cable (50 cm), putting the Cable away from possible sources of distortion (such as Speakers and magnetic fields) but nothing help. I get these bars in every Resolution I choose.
Is this a Hardware-Problem or just something that can be tweaked away?

Thanks

ArthurDent2k

P.S. Already tried the alternate Drivers BTWinCap, same Picture :(

no picture attached?
if it's too big mod's won't accept it so put it on
your web space or send it to my mail
(keep it under 200k though...)

Seems the Mods have unlocked it now :)

I chose a Black Screen, here the bars are clearly visible... doesnīt look too dramatic, but when You have them everywhere on the screen itīs very annoying :-(

I had exactly the same problem with my old Terratec TV+, also a sat receiver attached. Some users of this forum and me speculated about the cause here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=36243). Maybe you could have a look at it.

I don't know how or why, but using a newer capture card with a SAA7134 chip from Philips(Terratec Cinergy 400 to name it) solved this problem. I only changed the capture card, the postion of the devices(sat+vcr), the cables & the software are all the same as they were before the change.

Hmm,good Point. Once had a similiar Picture-Prob on my TV and it was caused by the Coax-Cable lying close to a Speaker of my Stereo...
OK, my cables are now free of interferences from any electromagneticfields, but nothing changed (OK, think they were so before :)) Will now try enabling SpreadCentrum in the Bios (disabled it a few months ago cause of performance Probs), maybe this will do the trick. Will post if it worked, thanks for your reply!

yes,it's the same kind of interference as i fellaw's case.....so no new answers for you...heheh
(and perhaps indeed (as fellaw said it) some hardware doesn't like
the rest of the machine and it's the source of interference...once you are sure no outside interference occurs, that is...)

Yes, I am sure about having removed all potential sources ;)
But, amazingly enough, one simple Bios-Setting did it:
Enable Spread-Centrum.
That was all. No more stripes, good picture (OK,bit grainy but thatīs the fault of the source :)) and all because of this setting.
Crazy.
This in mind I want to thank fellow fellaw :D for pointing out this thread!
I attached a picture, same source as before (this blue screen appears between commercial breaks here so itīs not hard to find...strange,always thought Microsoft invented the Bluescreen :D), you can judge for yourself as soon as the mod unlocks the attachment ;)
Again, thank you both for your interest and help!

So long

Just a litte question:

Which motherboard do you have? I don't have an option called Spread-Centrum in my bios, nor is it familiar to me. Actually I never heard of it. Or was it an option in your graphic cards bios?

I have an Abit K7VTA3.1 with an Award-Bios, Chipset ViaKT333.
The Option resides in the Voltage/Frequency-Section.

hope this helps you
