View Full Version : Newbie question - no picture

Hi!

First I want to apologize if this question has already been asked, but I couldn't find anything with the search function.

I have made an SVCD using DVD2SVCD 1.0.9 build 3 and CCE SP 2.62.

It all ran like it was supposed to, and finished without any errors. But when I burn the CD and play it in my DVD, there is no picture, just sound.

The same when I open the encoded video file.

What am I doing wrong??

Hope you can help me out here...

Thx!

Hi,

Not sure what the problem may be as I am a newbie too, but you will need to post your log file to get any sort of decent response.

Post you logfile as was stated above, using cut and paste.
Make sure your DVD player reads SVCD's by checking the list at www.vcdhelp.com
Play the bbmpeg_muxed_file??.mpg in WinDVD or PowerDVD.

What did you use to burn the CD-R with?
Did you try and play the CD-R in WinDVD or PowerDVD in your PC?

My DVD player supports SVCD, the BBMPEG_muxed_filexx.mpg has no picture either in PowerDVD, and the SVCD has no picture in PowerDVD.

I burnt the CD with Nero.

Here's the log:

I wonder about this very high CCE-speed. Don't know what PC you have, but this is a quite uncommon value. Also 3:22 hours for a 4passVBR is very short time.
Try to play your 'encoded_video_xxx.mpv', if this also got no picture try a CrashRecovery from Video Encoding, I think something went wrong in this stage.

Yeah there is no computer I know of that will have a CCE speed that high. Something happened either in CCE or before.

What version of CCE are you using?

Play the VOB files in WinDVD or PowerDVD and see if they ripped ok.

What is your computer's CPU?

My CPU is an Athlon 1.4...

I'm using CCE SP 2.62. And the VOb filesare working fine...

Should I try a crash recovery?

UltimateDBZ

Yes, do a crash recovery. An Athlon 1.4 could never achieve a speed that high.

markrb
11th November 2002, 23:54
Did you check "safe mode" on the encoder tab?
For CCE 2.62 that must be checked.

I don't use 2.62 so I don't know if it will even start without safe mode checked.

mrkrb: Yes, I used safemode.

UPDATE:

Now I tried with a whole different movie, same problem. The Max CCE speed is like 2.9, and there is no picture. Should I try another version of CCE???

It seems that the VFAPI or Link2 you're using as Frameserver isn't installed properly (are you using link2?). Try open the .avi in mediaplayer and see if you get an error there. (If you use Link2, did you remember to right-click the inf file in the link2 folder and select install). Also there is problems with CCE 2.64.1.10, it wont work with Link2 (well not here anyway). My suggestions is:

1. M;ake sure you're installation of the framserver is working by loading the avi in windows mediaplayer.
2. If that doesn't work try CCe 2.5 (remember to deselect safe mode)

bRilliance
12th November 2002, 15:07
I don't know what link2 is, there is no such folder in the DVD2SVCD directory.

The Avisynth_Scritp_File_avs-vfapi.avi can play in media player, but there is no sound, and it doesn't play very well...

markrb

The Avisynth_Scritp_File_avs-vfapi.avi can play in media player, but there is no sound, and it doesn't play very well...

Thats normal since you are only doing the video in this part. DVD2SVCD handles the audio seperatly.
Jerky video on a frame served video is not uncommon either.

Maybe you could Un-Install CCE 2.62 and try a re-install. Make sure to completely delete the directory as well before you install it again.

You may also want to try CCE 2.5. Not only is it just as good as 2.62 for us it's also faster and you don't need to use safe mode.
