used both 1.09B3 and 1.1.0B1
i'm trying to convert a NTSC 3hr 46min dvd to 4 x 800min SVCD discs the strange thing is i can't seem to get the bitrate i want for each SVCD disc
i have set
High quality
CBR
NTSC to PAL checked
Telecide(PAL) deinterlace checked
AUDIO @128k
and here's the bitrate settings i choose for this 3hr 46min dvd
http://www.fileshosts.com/dvdsvcd-bitrate.jpg
now i tried dvd2svcd 1.09b3 and 1.1.0b1 on 2 pcs
P4 2.4B@2808 /P4B533
512MB XMS3200C2@208mhz 2-3-3-6
128MB Xmicro GF4 Ti4200 VIVO@default
80GB WD 800JB 8MB cache drive
120GB WD 1200JB 8MB cache drive
P4 2.26B@2634 /P4B533
512MB XMS3200C2@206mhz 2-3-3-6
64MB Gainward GF3 Ti200
80GB WD 800JB 8MB cache drive
120GB WD 1200JB 8MB cache drive
with 1st pc, in tmpgenc 2.58 it reports encoding
= MPEG-2 480x576 25fps @1472kbps
with 2nd pc, in tmpgenc 2.58 it reports encoding
= = MPEG-2 480x576 25fps @1062kbps
but image quality wise the both are close in tmpgenc 2.58 - haven't checked the resulting bin/cue file in DaemonTools yet as the 3hr 46min dvd takes 6-8hrs to encode
any idea why the difference in bitrates and how can I encode them @2230 - 2400kbps video ????

There was a very simalar issue not too long ago.
In the end it was found out that the VOB files had been copied across a network and somehow they changed the video.
Did you rip each on it's own machine or did you do a network copy?
To be able to encode at a higher bitrate you need to allow for more room. So you need to either increase the number of CD's for the time in question or increase the CD size.
For that length of movie you will need about 6 800MB discs to get a bitrate over 2400. With 5 discs and 192 audio you will have a bitrate of around 2200.
Trust me raise that audio bitrate to at least 160 if not 192. Many DVD players have issues with 128 Kbit audio and your ears will thank me for it.
How did you determine that video was 3hrs 46 Minutes? Don't trust the box or the IFO file, many are just plain wrong and some do not include the titles in the time. So if the titles were 5 minutes long then your movie was really 3 hrs 51 minutes and longer then the 4 cd section. In this case it would jump to the next section and be a 3cd very low bitrate encode.
Play the DVD in WinDVD or PowerDVD before you decide on a length to see what the real length is.

What are you talking about ISO images for?
Did you not rip a DVD?
Did you use Internal routines to Rip the DVD?
You seem to be all over the place with issues.
First you talk about wierd bitrate settings snd now you are saying the audio conversion isn't working right.
What are you doing?
If these are "Wild" Vob files, IE not ripped by DVD2SVCD then you are more or less on your own. There are way to many factors in dealing with files not processed from the DVD by DVD2SVCD.

Mark yeah sorry about that i ripped dvd using dvd decrypter (latest version) to ISO file placed one 1 drive and loaded it with daemontools and ripped it using dvd2svcd outputted to 2nd drive (reading/writing from 1 hard drive to another is faster i suppose)
but it's now working properly on both pcs using DVD2SVCD 1.09b3 - i can see the Encoded_audio_1.mp2 file and the encoded_audio_1.log shows no errors :)
i changed number of svcds from 4 to 6 and audio from 128k to 192k now bitrate for tmpegenc is @2207kbps for 1st pc and @2192kbps for 2nd pc.. to complete in ~ 7 to 8hrs :)
thanks

You really should read this forum and the Q+A before posting.
Do NOT use DVD Decrpyter with DVD2SVCD. You will have problems.
You should only use the two rippers included.
Before you post here if you ripped the DVD with any other ripper, start again with one of the two included rippers. No support is given for outside rippers.

thanks Mark i found the problem to the missing audio file, is was to do with a bug in besweet which even occured with 1.1.0B1c with a straight rip and conversion from a dvd using dvd2svcd http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&postid=224812#post224812
