Using DVD2SVCD, then I used Daemon tool, I get excellent picture and sound on PC. The problem occurred when burn CDRW and play it using either PC or DVD player. It is unwatchable, very jittery, drop frame and audio syn problem !!! Please help

I tried clonecd and Nero, Nero is even worse (burn from the virtual drive). What went wrong? I used Toshiba 210E. I don't think it is to do with dvd player, as it is as bad on PC. Do u think it is to do with using CDRW. I don't want to waste a cd but trying.

Well i do the same thing your doing and haven't had a problem yet. So burning to cdrw is possible. What i might try is if your cdr's are 10x then burn at 8x or 4x and see if that fixed the problem. Also i would buy another brand of cdrw's other then that i have no ideas.

I have several CDRW discs from a few companies. All are rated at 10X or greater.
If I burn my memorex CDRW discs any faster then 4X I have that exact problem you are having. I don't have any issues with my TDK media when I burn that at 12X. So I am thinking it's a media issue.

Slow that burn down to 4X and see what happens.

Hey chainsaw135 thanks for getting me to think CDRW instead of CD-R. I do it the same way as you now. Only problem is what do I do with these 400 CD-R discs I have now?

Thanks for all your help. Will try to burn my CDRW with 4X tonight. I saw it in somewhere that CDRW is easily to be read by dvd player than cdr, is that true?

Nope not true. It's a generalization. Older Sony units could not read CD-R discs at all, but could read CDRW discs. It's individual DVD player dependent.

I ordered a Lite-On 32X from Dell a couple months ago (already have 2 other ones that work great). It was dead on arrival. Wouldn't even read a cd. So the replacement I got s couple of weeks ago (reburished..not sure) seemed to work but then I started noticing green blocks. I tried different burning programs...different speeds, different media, etc. It was always the last 90% or so of the SVCD. Anyway I plopped in another Lite-On 32X and it worked like a charm. So in the end it was a bad burner nothing no software, speed setting or whatever could solve. It's kinda hard to tell cuz I never got burning errors or buffer underruns with the bad burner either. They're sending me a 40X Lite-On and I'm sending back the bad 32X Lite-On.

Something I noticed, if you're getting picture distortion, green blocks, chirps, etc. near the end of a CD, it could be that your player just has trouble reading data from near the end of CD's. To fix this, I don't write out data to the end of CD's, instead I make images around 700 to 750 MB instead of 800 MB. My player has trouble with disks written out to 800 MB as well, but my PC doesn't have any problems reading out to there.

Even with a 40x lite on and high quality Taiyo-Yuden cd-r's, I can still only burn at 4x while keeping good quality. any more than 4x i get out of sync audio/video and the picture breaks up after 25 or so minutes of playing the svcd in my apex.

I have a 48X Lite-On now and use TY's almost exclusively and although I sometimes get issues at 40 or 48X I never have issues at 32X eith this drive with CD-R media.

Are you sure your drive even does 4X? Mine won't go lower then 8X regardless of what I set it for.

Anyway the slowest speed you writter will do or 4X whichever is greater is the most compatible, but if you are careful usually you can go faster.

I have two lite-on's, one is a 24x the other is a 40x.. On the 24x i'm able to burn at 24x,the 40x i'm able to burn at 32x without any problems the media i'm using right now are the Memorex 80 minute cdr's tho i've used other cdr name brands and have had similiar results.

chainsaw135 those Memorex CDR discs could very well be TY's. Memorex doesn't make their own discs. As a matter of fact most discs you buy are not made by the company on the label, most outsource. If on the label your Memorex CDR discs say made in Japan then very likely they are TY's.

Yes even tho they say made in Taiwan on the package which i bought them at OfficeDepot They are made by Taiyo Yuden which all the 32x's are, and thats the speed i've had for a while since now i don't use them much anymore as i'm using the cdrw method:) and mostly keeping everything imaged including all my games and music.

btw my memorex have the white label, and blue print.

TY doesn't have a plant in Taiwan. Check those discs in CDR-Identifier. I doubt they are TY's, but they are not bad discs. Just stay away from Made in Mexico discs.

What i meant by that is the packaging was wrong i could of been a bit more clear as you misunderstood when i said "even tho they say made in Taiwan, they are made by taiyo yuden "

The packaging was wrong i wanted to point that out as i didn't know if anyone else noticed that? I have checked them with the cdr indentifier a while ago and it also confirmed they were made by taiyo yuden not only that i did some research and what i found out was that all the white labeled blue print 32x's are made by taiyo...

I just had my 24X lite-on at work give me green blocks like yesterday...I was like what the hell it was working fine for about a year or so. Anyway it turns out that a simple firmware upgrade solved the problem. Guess that new Costco 48X TDK media had issues with older firmware of lite-ons. Gonna flash my 32X lite-on at home and most likely all green blocks will be history.
