View Full Version : mpeg (svcd spec) playback problem

I normally have no probs playing back anything and (s)vcd spec mpeg1 is no exception.
However I've got a couple of .MPG files which when I throw at media player it says "cannot render" and nothing happens. I looked at the files specs in DVDPatcher and they are 480x480 2530000bitrate 29.970fps which matches NTSC SVCD requirements as far as I know?
So I was wondering if anyone knows what I can do to get them to playback (I tried loading into TMPGEnc to encode to MPEG2 for DVD but it just stops responding when I try to get it to read them).
TIA.

Hmmm... Sounds corrupted. Have you tried opening it in nero or vcdeasy? Create an image and extract it from the image. Just a thought. I've fixed files that way before.

Another way would be to try and open it in DVD2AVI and creating a project file and re-encoding it in TMPGEnc. I've done this a lot, with corrupted SVCD files that I've downloaded.
