cannot edit subtitles

i've got a movie with subtitles in 7 different languages in .idx/.sub format. now the .sub is about 140MB big, even compressed it is ~30MB - doesn't fit on a 700MB CDR with the avi.

now i tried to edit some of the languages out of the sub but with no success so far. i tried the subtitle studio but it says it cant recognize the sub.

the topline of the .idx says:
# VobSub index file, v7 (do not modify this line!)

can someone help me out or point me in some direction?

you need to get vobsub from http://vobsub.edensrising.com then all you need to do to get the subs you want out is go through the idx file comment out the subs name when its telling which stream is which.. And then open it in SubResync and then save it differently it will only use those that you didn't comment out..
