Hi
I've got Pioneer 104, which is supposed to write at 2 speed, I am using unbranded generation 3 media (vivastar), and nero 5582. I have updated the firmware for the dvdr drive, but it still will only write at 1 speed, what determines the write speed, is it something on the disc, or something else?

Usually the disc. The drive will mount the disc and determine what speeds it's capable of. Panasonic seems to be 1X, while TDK and Verbatim are 2X and the generic stuff is kind of a crap shoot. That version of NERO is pretty old too, you'd be better off with something like 5.5.9.14 or better still a good burning package like GEAR or Prassi.

Hy, what´s the firware you did upgrade to? The v1.31 ( A04/104 )enables 2x for Riteks. I use an older version of Nero ( 5.5.7.8 ) and it works great.
