All of a sudden NERO started burning disc's that wouldn't play in my set top player. It seems like it's only DVD's that I've had to re-encode. They play perfectly in PowerDVD 4 and the movies that I just stripped with IFOEdit work fine as well. I re-burnt a movie with GEAR Pro and it worked fine. Not sure what happened to NERO, before this I had at least 25 perfect burns, encoded and not.

hi,only thing i can say is,don`t use nero..
i got a new player which normaly plays everything (include minidvd, xdvd) but now my nero burnt dvd`s don`t work anymore, after a lot of readings i came to the point that the ultimate burning solution is the engine of ulead`s dvd workshop 1.02..ok,i ripped the nero dvd`s and burned with ulead..result:everthing works fine
:D

I'll keep playing with GEAR Pro but I'll give DVD Workshop a go as well. I didn't realize that did burning too.

I wonder if perhaps gear pro, is rearranging the files or doing something to the layout that makes it "compatible"...whereas Nero isn't doing that? Seems odd that it only has a problem when you re-encode stuff.
You're using UDF/ISO mode and 5.5.8.2?? i've heard any other version of Nero has problems, so I'm sticking to this one.

I know that you can't really test burned dvdr with powerdvd 4 because it plays everything, even dvd's burned on a cdr. So you'll have to use powerdvd 2.55 or windvd to really test your disc.
I used nero 5.5.8.1 that wouldn't burn dvd at all for me, but upgrading to 5.5.9.9 solved all problems (so far!).
Still, when i use powerdvd 4 on a dvd+rw it plays fine but the instance i load it into windvd it won't play correctly anymore.
