View Full Version : subtitles interfere with audio

I have just made a copy of Lagaan (NTSC R1 225 mins long)and authored it in Maestro.
I imported into Maestro the CCE recompiled m2v file, the demuxed AC3 (in Hindi) file and the subtitles extracted using Subrip 1.11. After compiling and getting an image, I burnt a test CD-RW with DVD Decryptor.
The movie played in my Pioneer standalane with perfect picture and audio clarity and the subtitles were in perfect sync. However there was a slight flicker with the subtitles and sometimes a line underneath them. I searched the forum and others had also seen this and the advice was to make the cropping size 720x480. I did this, recompiled and burnt my CD-RW again.
This time the subtitles and picture on my standalone are perfect, no lines or flicker, however most of the audio track is absent, every now and then it comes in erratically but most of the time it is absent.
With PowerDVD the subtitles and audio are perfect but the picture appears jerky.
Does this make any sense to anyone? (I noticed the size of all the extracted bmp files for the subtitles when 720x480 was 335MB versus 13MB when cropped, however when imported into Maestro they were less than 20MB - does this have anything to do with the problem)
