View Full Version : Problem with image creation

I'm currently working on Gazaraki. The DVD has 11 VOB titles. I removed title 2 because it is the annoying FBI warning, everything else I kept. I edited the VIDEO_TS.IFO to make sure no references were left to it. When I created the image file in ImgTools everything worked fine, the image was the correct size. When I burned the image and put it in my DVD player nothing happened. I checked the disc in explorer and found that it only contained the main movie vobs, the rest had been left out. Is this due to my taking out VOB set 2 and breaking the continuity from 1 to 11? If so how do I get around this. Right now I'm in the process of burning the folders directly with Prassi and unchecked the "Check DVD folder compliance" option for a DVD-RW test burn. Can anyone else tell me what I should do?

I'm sure i remember reading about someone inserting dummy files to overcome this problem - have you searched?
i think it was in the ifoedit forum.

Dummy files? Not sure I've heard about that one. I'll check it out, thanks Gold.

Hi,
I use Ifoedit with imgtool.dll to create an "img" file then burn this with Prassi this seems to be the best method I have used so far tried the directory method and its not 100% so far the img method works 100%. What I have found is that when an image is created if you have chopped vobs from the DVD sometimes this screws things up when playing back even if those vobs have nothing to do with the content being viewed. I simply remove the unwanted vobs and leave the original IFO's and bobs your fathers brother.... :D
You just then burn the resultant img file with Prassi and it should work ok.
Note: using this method with my Pioneer 104 gives Xbox Compatibility , PS2 Compaitibity and it works on my Sony DVD 735 player. No other methods worked for me in all cases.
The directory method is not reliable.
Another useful tip is download daemon tools and use this to emulate a dvd image. Open the image up with WinDVD or PowerDVD and test the links. Also useful in checking received img files have the right region coding before burning... I no longer use DVD RW's this seems to work well for me ( and even better you don't have to wait an hour!! )
Happy burning
