View Full Version : bbMPEG crash with WIndowsXP...

Hello Folks,
anyone also got trouble running 'runbbMPEG' under WindowsXP ??
it's a german corporate professional Version, having installed SP1 and every single patch that's available at M$...
each time when one of the buttons --where *normally* the filerequestors open, where one can select the input- and output-files-- are pressed, runbbMPEG.exe just exits, does not display any error or crash-window or whatsoever at all, just terminates...
[looks like a problem of those .dll(s) that try to display these file-selectors]
...or is there any other way to _specify_ these files (output-mpeg, input-video and two input-audio files) *without* pressing these 'Open PS/VS/AS 1/AS 2' buttons?
[I noticed, when one additional argument is given when executing runbbMPEG.exe this is taken as output-filename]
What about that default-ini file?
how does DVD2SVCD 'control' bbMPEG?
Anyone can help?
please...
guru
p.s.
or is there a 'well-known trick' that I missed?
[something like using apcompat.exe for CCE 2.50 under Win2000...]
...or something better/newer for multiplexing TWO audio and one video stream into a SVCD compliant MPEG2 program stream??
p.p.s.
for heaven's sake: that by no means was meant profane at all in my previous post, sorry for that ***! will you ever forgive me?
...no need to close the thread for this :-o
(...or do You work at M$? :)

Please read the forum rules.
You have been striked. Not just beacuse of this post, but for the combined rule breaking between this and the last post. If you don't take this forum or the rules seriously we won't take you seriously.
9) Use a title that describes the content of your post. Don't use all caps or special characters to draw attention.
BBmpeg and WinXP do have issues if you run it outside of DVD2SVCD with it crashing unless you open the file a certain way.
If that is what you are talking about try a search or read the guides at doom9 the fix is explained in them.
If you are looking to use bbmpeg without DVD2SVCD then you are in the wrong forum.
DVD2SVCD is closed source and as such much of the way it works is not given out. I do not know if this is one of those things, but it very well could be.
I use Windows XP and never had an issue with any of the programs in DVD2SVCD.

sorry for slightly breaking rule #9
- I was not aware that this little frowny is considered to be 'special characters' [you should have been more precise, i.e. give examples...] and the CAPs... sorry it's just the name as it is.
...and the <<2>> was not my fault - YOU (at least another Mod) closed my first post for reasons not known to me...
YES I don't like apple pie, I tried it and it tasted quite good, but as one of the old bakers I like perfection which the apple pie just not achieves yet (but it continuously shortens the distance ;)
Sorry - it was not my intention to steal some of the holy incredients of the apple pie!
Being a professional 'baker' myself I would also not give away secrets which i discovered in endless hours of experimenting
-- but it could have been, that this wasn't one of those secrets...
Well -speaking of the 'wrong' forum- there simply is no BETTER one...
even if You sounded a little stressed answering my question (at least I had that impression) you indeed did help me in finding the solution, now it works -even standalone in WinXP- and therefore I send You my regards!
peace and fun

When I said wrong forum I meant the DVD2SVCD forum specifically, not the whole Doom9 forums. Since DVD2SVCD is intergrated and the BBmpeg bug does not affect it you were possibly better off in the SVCD forum which is a more hands on forum and they are better at answering individual programs then we are. At least they get more in depth.
I was not privy to the reason for the closing of the other thread. I suspect it was due to the language involved, but I don't know.
You are right that the Doom9 forums are the best around, but like I was trying to get at each section has it's specialty and although many here do know how to do SVCD's from hand those questions still belong in it's proper forum.
As for the Pie stuff you might want to contact DVD2SVCD directly. What he decides to share is entirely up to him. All I know is that when questions about stuff he has written comes up here the same answer is always given. That it's not open source and never will be. To many programs are showing up as commercial that are obvious ripoffs of open source stuff lately. It's sad that this makes what DVD2SVCD neccessary now as I am sure he would love to be more open with how he does things.

There's a Patch available for this Problem. It occurs only under WinXP. I don't have the Link a.t.m. Just use google to search for 'bbmpeg + xp + patch' (or so..)
bye,
Malcolm
To all the others: Do you know if there's any development going on with bbmpeg??? I don't think so...
couldn't anybody cut out the multiplexing-stuff and build a nice (cli-)tool? (i know it's working fine by using DVD2SVCD to do the settings...)
Or integrate it in xvcdbuild / vcdimager so that no intermediate *.mpg file has to be produced? This would mean one (or DVD2SVCD) can directly produce 1 (or more) *.bin out of 1 *.mpv + 1 or 2 *.mpa!!

...that's exactly what I was thanking markrb for!
Sometimes the solution to a certain problem seems to be too obvious to find by myself... :-7
Well, Yes - me too use bbMPEG for multiplexing only!
How about BeMuxx?
BeSplit - EXACTLY what I was waiting for so long]
Just a suggestion...
