Subrip and the matrix file

Using the 0.97 version I can update the matrix file every time it found new ocr characters. (Atm I have 1.2Mb matrix file)
With new versions I can't update it and, every time, the prog delete my old matrix file to create a new one.
Can I stop this and continue to use all the time the sama (and updated) file?

It uses more compact format, all characters are preserved and new could be added, but filesize gets smaller compared with v0.97.
