I had a DXR3 a while ago...since then my CPU has been upgraded to an Athlon. And I find that the CPU can handle the work of the MPeg card....Whip it out if you have the same option...I now only use the drive.

Ok thanks but i'm wondering why it doesn't work. Moreover, the DXR3 has TVout unlike the graphic card which is this PC.

Hi , I'v a dxr3 + creative dvdrom 6x, and I have a lot of problems with the drive reading the dvdr

I tried with win908 , win2k , the original driversm, the holywood+ drivers, the same

Some dvdr work well I thik it depends a lot of the media you are using, and the way you burn'em

Dxr 3 is an old product for the computer world. Back then dvd-rom drives weren't supposed to support dvd-r, that is why some of them play and others don't. The reflective side of them don't reflect enough light back to make them readable, I am afraid there is nothing u can do about it but stick to the brand that seems to give the best results or buy yourself another drive, they r pretty affordable nowdays.
