Well... I have no clue why would you need it, as when I'm converting subs it is always the other way around - from sub to... well mostly SSA :). Anyway, if you don't find it on the main software page, you can use some else prog from the tons of available ones. My personal favorite is SubResync from VobSub package ^_^

Well, for generating, playback etc. I recommend you SubRip and VobSub together for starters... They should be enough for all tasks with basic subtitles. - ripping, conversion, playback and even basic editing.

Guide? Well... somewhere in my head :). I am sure Doom9 have some guide on SubRip usage. And VobSub is pretty straightforward - although it has virtually no documentation in it's DOC directory :(. Just find by trial&error which program does what and you'll understand it in no time...

Well..I have Subrip and Vobsub. but i've been following the Doom subtitles guide for a week now and still could'nt figure it out how to put subtitles in my svcd's. The guide is quite confusing.. If you don'd mine..could you tell me how to make subtitles with those 2 programs?:(

Okay, i got to the point with Subrip where i just finish typing all the letters in..now..what do i do? that's where i'm stuck at.

External or internal?

External: Look up WinSubMux. VobSub can export its bitmap subs to this format. Or convert text subs using MaestroSBT.

Internal (burned in picture): Before encoding, add TextSub() or VobSub() filter in your AviSynth script.
