Which Quide?

hi all
can someone steer a newbie to a dvd ripping quide that a NEWBIE can
understand or where i can get some help with ripping?
been trying for weeks now and i can only manage to copy "copys"
no luck with reg 1 or reg 2.. been trying shrek can get film but no sound and i would like to learn how to copy a dvd which has 2 films on to 1 dvd... many thx for help
