When I use Subrip to rip subtitles from a dvd, there are several output formats you can use. One of them, the most commonly used, is to "translate" the subtitle pictures into a text file that can then be "burnt" into a divx avi using a VirtualDub filters. However, I think it takes too long to "translate" the pictures into text. There is also another option available when using Subrip. That is to rip the subtitle files into a bunch of .bmp files. My question is, how could I "burn" these .bmp files into a divx avi. Please help point me in the right direction!

*heh* If you are just going to copy the original subtitles' font and colors, just use vobsub and the vobsub virtualdub filter. The subtitles look the same and it doesn't take that long to convert. There's no figure out the characters and no 1000 bmps to use.

Um... doom9.org has a nice little how to guide for subtitles with vobsub.
