Can you simply burn an MPG-2 file to a DVD an have it play? Or do you need a Video_TS file ifo.. etc

No, you cannot just burn an MPEG-2 file to a DVD and expect it to work. Lucky for you, the latest version of IFOEdit (v.94 I think, check Doom9's frontpage (http://www.doom9.org): it should still be there) can convert a MPEG-2 file into a useful DVD structure. Then you can use Nero to actually burn the DVD.

IFOedit .094 has got some bugs. Use .0932, you can burn with nero, the latest roxio or the 1 I prefer, recordnowmax 4 There is even a guide on Derrow's site for this. If I remember correcly: www.mpucoder.kewlhair.com/derrow, something like that
