After I use subrip to rip subtitles into .bmp format, how do I get them onto a divx avi? If somebody with knowlege on this topic could point me in the right direction, I would be very glad.
Also, I don't want to convert the subs to text for it takes much to much time.

I'm confused by your question. Subrip format (.sub) is a text format. So please bear with me if I'm not answering the right question:
If you wish to use a subtitle file with an existing .avi file, you can either use a player that supports separate subtitle files, such as BSPlayer, or you can use DirectVobsub with any .avi player.
If you wish to "burn" subtitles into a DivX encoding, then you have several choices, including the VobSub or TextSub filters for VirtualDub or AviSynth.
There are a large set of subtitle guides, including a Subrip guide, at Doom9's website. In addition, there is a Subtitle forum here, where you may find additional information.
