i just ripped braveheart with smartripper trying to create a DIVx movie with burned-in subtitles but an odd problem occurred...when i ripped all the streams in the demux mode it gave me the correct ifo file from which i created with vobsub the.idx and .sub files and burned them with Gknot but as it turned out it only happen for only a part of the movie..but with the above scenario i could not open the vob files with dvd2avi, something which was possible when i ripped only some of the streams excluding the language and the others.. could the m2v files instead of vob or will there be a problem with demuxing later on?

I am not sure what you are asking but...
The m2v files are only video, ac3 (usually) is audio, and subs are rawsub or something if all the streams are demuxed (the rawsubs are unusable afaik - sub title streams should be demuxed to a new vob or direct stream copied – or left alone, I believe you can rip the subs off the DVD with vobsub?). There shouldn't be any difference between demuxing the streams and just using the vobs, except for speed - it is faster to process each stream individually. I have noticed sync issues (audio being off) with both using the ripped vobs and the demuxed streams (or both ways - but lets not talk about those DVD's). If you have problems using one method use the other ;)
